A Royal Pain

You may or may not have figured out by now, I am a creative person. I love drawing, painting, writing, scrapbooking, singing, make hundreds of poofy hairbows...the list goes on and on.

Now, I didn't say I was good at all those things. I just said I like doing them.

So, when my husband made a simple (or so he thought) suggestion to put all three of our kids in one room and make one bedroom a playroom, I jumped on it.

Did someone say (gasp!) "redecorate"?! Be still my beating heart.

The right side of my brain kicked into artistic hyperdrive. I ran to the computer and started frantically doing searches for "shared space bedrooms". And of course, at the top of the list is the medivial theme.

Sigh. So romantic.

Princesses for the girls and knights and dragons for Brother. A castle theme throughout. But wait! We could turn the bunk bed into a castle!! And I could paint something beautiful on the wall! And the colors would be regal...gold, crimson, purple...

My head is spinning with ideas and I begin to feel whoozy with a good HGTV buzz going. I am cruising full throttle down the highway of dreams in a slick, red sportscar called "Creativity".

And then reality comes crashing in on my reverie and pulls the emergency brake.

What am I thinking??!!

When I am going to do all that?

I homeschool. I have a toddler. I have dishes, laundry and a million other things to keep up with. I am going back to school in three weeks, where I will be taking 12 HOURS!

And blogging. Let's not forget about that.

I need a week with a nanny, cook and a housekeeper so I can satisfy my creative muse.

Any volunteers?

Oh it sounds so great! I've been known to decorate kids rooms, but it typically involves only paint. I did my daughter's in a castle theme once and it was a pretty big deal - murals, the whole nine-yards.

But sorry - I can't help you out;)

My boy and girl both share a room. We are using the exact same theme! It's perfect for boys or girls. I'll let you know how it goes and I'll probably put step by step instructions on my blog.

Well, IF you find the time, it would be an awesome room. Then your children will adore your creativity and thier friends who come over will all tell thier parents how they wish thier room were that cool! You can't beat that.

Wow you will definitely be a busy bee! But the room sounds like it would be great for the kids. Some place where they can definitely use their imaginations full force. If you find the time I can't wait to see pictures of it all.

And GOOD LUCK with school.

I can identify! I am going to tackle my craft room--paint and a little decorating--and I will do it before we get back to school. Really I will!

I get the hugest kick out of seeing other people's brilliant creativity. Being a chronically NON-artistic person myself, I derive great pleasure out of living vicariously through the blogs of people like you. *Grin*

Those are some great ideas! I wish that I could afford doing stuff like that! Oh and I need your help since you are a supermom, I am starting homeschool with my kids this year, and like you I will be going back to school, but I am afraid I won't be able to keep up with both so my school will have to wait until summer again. So I was hoping that I could get whatever advice that I can for this new endeaver. Please? You rock!

we did the same thing and are loving it! toys in one concentrated area is the best!! have you ever been to the habitat for humanity re-store? you could get some cool building materials there, and even sometimes some paint! we did a pirate theme, 'pirate's cove'...then in the bedroom, painted their names above their beds. it turned out so cute...not sure how to post a pic on the comment, so i will try it on my blog.

Just finished a redo of a shared room for my three...girls though. No fancy theme, but they were thrilled nonetheless. Sometimes we homeschoolers have to just let good be good enough.

I can say there is nothing better than having a separate space for playing. The room is always calm, clean and ready for SLEEP!

I'm looking for the same volunteers. I'm all reading the blog and BAM - theres the castle and I have two that share the same room and LOVE THE KNIGHT AND PRINCESS theme . . . I'm wondering how I could inspire my hubby to build that! I don't have the time . . .
