Never Say Never

My sister is ten years older than I and has four boys. She had her fourth and final boy six and a half years before I even had my first child.

She's way ahead of me in this motherhood game.

Once upon a time, in my other life (You know, the one where I wore makeup, had my nails done and went to the coffee house at 10 p.m. if the mood so struck me. That would be the "Pre-Baby Era".) I used to marvel and even wonder aloud how the heck my sister's kitchen floor got SO dirty.

I mean, my floor was never that dirty. Hubby, the cat and I kept our floor very clean. In fact, I cleaned it at least once a week. And I had a job! She was home all day, leading a life of leisure. Why couldn't she manage to sweep, for crying out loud?

Oooooo. I was a snooty little thang.

But alas, it has come full circle. My sister has the last laugh.

Behold, what I swept up in my kitchen floor today:

  1. You, obviously, do not have a dog that wanders (and sheds) indoors or there would be 6 pounds of fluff mixed in with all the rest. I feel your pain (and eating humble pie with you!)

  2. And the worst is when you get it all swept into a pile and then the baby comes by and thinks it's some kind of a buffet.....

    *Gag*

  3. I feel your pain too!!! I never knew my floor could get so dirty so quickly until I became a mommy. BTW, the bows are beautiful!

it's amazing how much stuff can accumulate in one day. and gross at times too.

Aren't light colored floors the worst? Mine is like that too and I hate it. I want a dark colored floor since at least I can't see the dirt, since it's not like I'm going to get any cleaner in the near future!

Second about the dog, too. We had a *very* fluffy black dog for a while. Try having long black hairs all over your light colored floor. Ick, ick, ick.

  6. I think I need some royalties on that photo! Just kidding! Yet that same mess was on this floor (including the crayan) not that long ago. But our floors more like a yucky orange tile . .

I actually kind of miss my wood floors. At least with them, I knew what was on the floor to be swept up. In our current apt, we have carpet (except in the kitchen and bathrooms). I try to vacuum, but since I don't want to vacuum during the infantino's nap, and since he is all over the floor the times he is awake (and the attendant toys), I have vacuumed once since we have lived in this apt. I hate to think what's lurking in that carpet! LOL

I also loved the previous "bean picture" made by your wee one. That was too funny.

    Hope all is well!

  8. LMAO! Oh, how I can relate. And I'm so impressed that you came up with a blog post about the muck you swept up off your floor. Now, that's talent! ;-) Just goes to show, there's always something worthwhile to brag about if you're thinking cap is on. :-)
